About Peter A. Davis Consulting

Experience You Can Count On

“If you don’t stand for something, You don’t stand for anything. A tenuous position for a leader to be in.”

                                                                                                                                                                                                        P. Davis

Professional Leadership History: I have had a thirty-four year span in education holding the following positions: Teacher, Department Chair, Activities Director, Dean, Vice Principal, Principal, Director of Middle and High School and Assistant Superintendent of Middle School and High School, and finally Assistant Superintendent of  High Schools.  My career spans between two Districts Los Angeles Unified (LAUSD), and twenty-four years with Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), as well as,  Adjunct Professor at Cal State Dominguez Hills  and San Diego State University.

No matter the position I held, my goal was the same; to develop the leadership skills among those I worked with.  During my classroom days, I sought to create student leaders in and out of the classroom.  When we all work toward the same mission, vision and values, we all thrive in our work environment and grow personally and professionally.

Professional Leadership Theories:  Prior to entering the field of education, I worked in a variety of positions in the private sector.  I brought the thinking, strategic and system planning from the private sector to my educational experience at all levels.  Some elements of that thinking are:

  • Knowing your own personal values and beliefs that drive you to do what you do.
  • Knowing the Purpose/Why one is doing what they are doing.
  • Being a Team Player as defined by Patrick Lencioni - Humble, Hungry and Smart.
  • Developing an equitable workplace for the team to grow and excel.
  • Thriving in the leadership journey during the times of struggles and during the times of success.
  • Learning to find fun and joy in all the situations that are part of working and living in this world.

Professional Leadership Success:  Leading an organization requires not only adhering to a leadership theory and philosophy. Leading an organization requires having the systems and structures in place to effectively create a strong working environment that supports the organization you are working in and is conducive to employee success which leads to customer satisfaction and organization success.  Learning how to create the systems and structures for the workplace is a key skill to develop in a leader.

My background in leadership development comes from the educational and business sector, so I can support/coach/mentor constituents in both of these arenas.
